Social Ministry Program

As Christians we are called to act justly (Micah 6:8),
but what exactly does that mean for us today?
What is justice and how are we to act to bring about justice?

At Our Savior, we strive to live out our faith. The Social Ministry Program at Our Savior is funded through a generous 2 year grant from Thrivent Financial for Lutherans Foundation. The Social Ministry Program seeks to build a firm foundation for the congregation to engage in missional living through connecting faith with caring for our neighbors in need. The ultimate goal of the Social Ministry Program is to turn knowledge, passion, and faith into concrete actions that serve the community and empower and enable the congregation to grow spiritually.

Through this grant, the Social Ministry Program will allow Our Savior to expand and formalize ministries that have existed for many years in addition to adding new ministries. We are focusing especially on expanding and strengthening our ministries related to reducing hunger in DuPage County; including the community garden, supporting Neighborhood Food Pantries (formerly known as Feeding Northwest DuPage), supporting families in need of food, and caring for the homeless in our community.

Through this program and with God's help we will be able to make a more significant impact in our community while offering members of our congregation more opportunities to grow in faith by putting their faith in action.
