Our Mission & Philosophy
Our Savior Lutheran Preschool is designed to provide a relaxed and loving environment where your child can grow intellectually, socially, emotionally, physically, and spiritually. We offer a well-rounded program, in a Christian setting, where children can be enriched in a fulfilling constructive way. We serve Our Savior Lutheran Church and the community by providing quality early childhood educational experiences for young children. Children are given time to explore educational materials. Learning experiences are provided in large and small group settings. By offering a wide variety of experiences and approaches, we feel we can best meet the learning needs of each child. This will be a great place for young children to experience firsthand, through the teacher, the fullness of the love God has for them through Jesus Christ. We believe preschool age children can, and do learn in a wide variety of ways.
Our Program & Curriculum
The religious curriculum forms the core of learning experiences for each class. Each day is planned as part of a thematic unit with defined goals and our daily lesson plans are posted. The children are given time to learn and explore through Art, Blocks, Chapel, Computer, Dramatic Play, Jesus Time, Language, Math, Science, and Stories. The day begins with Jesus Time & circle time activities, followed by discovery time and then a snack.
Large muscle activities are planned for our full size gymnasium as an alternate.
Judy Koschmann continues her ministry at Our Savior Preschool. She has a degree in Early Childhood from Concordia. Judy has over 20 years experience in preschool classrooms.
Visitation & Conferences
We encourage you to visit our classroom and become familiar with our program. You may make use of the one-way observation window to see your child interacting in the classroom. Our teachers and Director welcome your comments and questions outside of regular class time. In addition, formal Parent/Teacher conferences are scheduled once in the Fall and again in the Spring.
Tours
We invite you and your child to tour our facility. Tours are available by appointment. Director Judy Koschmann conducts the tours during regular class time, and welcomes your questions about our growing program.
Getting To Know Your Teachers
You and your child will be given two opportunities to meet his/her teachers prior to the first day of school. Home visits are scheduled at a convenient time for you and the teacher. You and your child are also encouraged to visit school on "Sneak a Peek" Day. These are designed to ease any separation anxiety your child may be experiencing.

Pre-Kindergarten Classes
Half Day Session: 12:30 - 3:00PM
PreK's meet Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday
Preschool Classes
Half Day Sessions: 9:00 - 11:30AM / 12:30 - 3:00PM
4 year olds meet Monday, Wednesday, and Friday
3 year olds meet Tuesday and Thursday
Junior Classes
Half Day Session 9:00 - 11:30AM / 12:30 - 3:00PM
Juniors meet twice weekly January thru May *
Admission & Enrollment
Our Savior Lutheran Preschool is open to all children, regardless of race, color, nationality, or religious beliefs, who may benefit from our program. Children must be three or four years old, depending on class enrolled, by September 1st of the current school year and toilet-trained.
* Children enrolling in the Junior Class must be three by January 15th of the current school year and toilet-trained. Call the preschool office to have a registration packet sent to you!
Preschool Boosters
Every parent is a member of "Boosters" upon enrolling their child and is invited to attend the monthly meetings. Preschool Boosters plans many family activities for the children such as Christmas Celebrations and an annual Teddy Bear Party. Their fundraising events enable us to enhance our program, fund the family events, supplement the cost of field trips, etc.... To learn more about Our Savior Preschool Boosters plan on joining them for their next meeting.

Children go outside daily, weather permitting, to our courtyard playground which contains "rubberific" mulch.
Large muscle activities are planned for our full size gymnasium as an alternate.
Class time ends with a story, which may include music activities. Chapel is held once a month and parents are welcomed and encouraged to attend Chapel.
Our Staff
All of our teachers are highly qualifed having earned Illinois State Teacher Certification, and all are DCFS director qualified.
